BALTIMORE, MD—A Mexican national previously convicted of child sex abuse was sentenced Tuesday to 20 months and 20 days in federal prison for illegally reentering the United States after being deported.
U.S. District Judge James K. Bredar imposed the sentence on Alfredo Carreon-Lopez, 39, of Rosedale. The sentence was announced by U.S. Attorney for the District of Maryland Kelly O. Hayes and Acting Director Nikita Baker of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE-ERO) – Baltimore Field Office.
According to his plea agreement, Carreon-Lopez, a citizen of Mexico, first entered the U.S. at an unspecified time and location. On Aug. 25, 2021, Carreon-Lopez pleaded guilty in the Circuit Court for Baltimore City to sexually abusing a minor. Evidence presented during his federal sentencing showed that he was convicted of sexually abusing a six-year-old child.
Carreon-Lopez was deported to Mexico on Oct. 5, 2021. Law enforcement officials later located him in Baltimore City on Sept. 15, 2023. Carreon-Lopez did not have official permission to reenter the United States.
