74-year-old killed in Baltimore County crash involving unlicensed teen

OWINGS MILLS, MD—A 74-year-old woman died Saturday after a two-vehicle crash in Owings Mills, and a 16-year-old unlicensed driver has been identified as the operator of the other vehicle involved, according to the Baltimore County Police Department.

The deceased has been identified as Patricia Cook, of Owings Mills.

Police responded to the intersection of New Town Boulevard and Middle Mill Drive around 11:20 a.m. for a report of a crash. When they arrived, officers and fire department paramedics found Cook trapped inside her 2019 Honda Fit. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives determined that Cook was making a left turn onto New Town Boulevard from Middle Mill Drive when her car was struck by a Jeep traveling northbound on New Town Boulevard at what police say may have been a high rate of speed.

The driver of the Jeep, a 16-year-old, fled the scene on foot but later returned with a family member. The teen was unlicensed.

The Baltimore County Police Department’s Crash Team is investigating the incident. Charges are pending the outcome of the investigation.
