Two charged with assaulting ICE officers in Maryland confrontations

BALTIMORE, MD—Two men, both illegally present in the United States, face federal charges for allegedly assaulting and resisting Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers in separate incidents in Maryland, authorities announced.

Adolfo Nimrod Hernandez-Ramos, 42, a Honduran national, and Tony Marcos Ferreira-Dos Santos, 30, a Brazilian national, were charged with assaulting, resisting, opposing, impeding, and interfering with federal officers, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Maryland.

U.S. Attorney Kelly O. Hayes, alongside Acting Field Office Director Nikita Baker of ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations Baltimore Field Office and Acting Special Agent in Charge Evan Campanella of Homeland Security Investigations Baltimore, announced the criminal complaints.

On June 6, 2025, ICE officers conducting surveillance in Catonsville observed Hernandez-Ramos leaving his Catonsville residence and followed him to a nearby shopping center. When officers approached, Hernandez-Ramos fled, resisted arrest, and allegedly kicked at officers, flailed his arms, and grabbed a table to avoid being detained. During the struggle, he reportedly seized an open handcuff and threatened to “slice [an officer’s] eye out.” Officers eventually apprehended him, but not before sustaining injuries.

In a separate incident on June 8, 2025, in Wicomico County, ICE officers encountered Ferreira-Dos-Santos and another individual, who was subject to a final removal order. Both men fled when approached by officers wearing tactical vests marked “POLICE.” After apprehending the other individual, officers located Ferreira-Dos-Santos, who allegedly resisted arrest and engaged in a physical struggle before being taken into custody.

The charges carry potential penalties of up to one year in prison for each count of assaulting, resisting, or impeding a federal officer. Both men remain in custody pending further legal proceedings.
