Parkville 9/11 Path of Honor to mark 14th year, Patriot Day Ride details announced

PARKVILLE, MD—An annual tribute to the lives lost in the 9/11 terrorists attacks will return to Parkville for its 14th year.

Community volunteers will place 2,977 American flags along Putty Hill Avenue, from Old Harford Road to Harford Road, in honor of those who lost their lives in the September 11, 2001 attacks.

This year, the Path of Honor will go up twice – once on Friday August 29th and again on Wednesday September 10th – beginning at 8 a.m. Participants will meet in the Putty Hill Shopping Center parking lot at 2531 Putty Hill Avenue.

The Path of Honor is going up twice this year due to the fact that the 14th annual Patriot Day Ride had to be moved to Saturday, August 30th.  This year, the Patriot Day Ride has over 30 sponsors and is expecting over 700 riders. The ride will go from Darlington to Parkville, ending at McAvoy’s.

The annual Bells of Remembrance Ceremony will take place at 8:46 a.m. on September 11 at the Parkville fire & police stations on Putty Hill Avenue.  The annual Spirits in the Night 9/11 Candlelight Vigil will take place at 6:45 p.m. on 9/11 at 2531 Putty Hill Avenue (21234).

The annual events are organized by The Hope and Peace Foundation.
