BALTIMORE, MD—BGE is asking all customers to conserve electricity to reduce the potential for widespread outages on Monday afternoon and evening.
The potential outages are the result of a power plant experiencing an unplanned disconnection from the BGE electric system, officials say.
In addition to conserving electricity beginning immediately and through Monday evening, BGE also recommends that residents prepare for a potential outage.
PJM Interconnection officials are currently evaluating whether there is enough power in the region.
The company adds that it will do its best to advise customers in advance if an outage becomes necessary.
