Flash Flood Warning issued for northeast Baltimore County, southern Harford County

UPDATE: A Severe Thunderstorm Warning is also in effect until 2 p.m. for areas including White Marsh, Edgewood, and Joppatowne.

NOTTINGHAM, MD—The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Warning for northeast Baltimore County and southern Harford County.

The warning covers areas such as Bel Air South, Carney, Perry Hall, White Marsh, Kingsville, Pleasant Hills, Edgewood, Joppatowne, Joppa, Upper Falls, Bradshaw, Fork, Joppa, Baldwin, Glen Arm, and Hydes.  The Flash Flood Warning will remain in effect until 4:15 p.m. on Thursday.

At just after 1:00 p.m., Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Up to 2 inches of rain have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 1 to 2 inches in 30 minutes. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.

Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
