Governor Moore joins McLaren leadership in announcing new vehicle processing center at Tradepoint Atlantic

BALTIMORE, MD—Maryland Governor Wes Moore announced Friday that British luxury car manufacturer McLaren will establish its first U.S. vehicle processing center at Tradepoint Atlantic in the Port of Baltimore, a project representing more than $10.5 million in investment and expected to create over 20 new jobs.

The 50,000-square-foot facility, located at the revitalized former Bethlehem Steel mill site in Sparrows Point, will serve as a hub for inspecting, customizing, and preparing McLaren supercars for distribution to 26 dealerships across the United States. It is anticipated to open in late 2026.

“We are thrilled to welcome McLaren to the great state of Maryland,” Moore said. “This new facility at Tradepoint Atlantic in the Port of Baltimore will turbocharge Maryland’s economic engine, and is a vivid example of how we can create new opportunities by uplifting international partnerships and attracting foreign investment.”

The new jobs will primarily be for highly skilled automotive technicians, as well as paint, logistics, and management personnel.

Maryland Department of Commerce Secretary Harry Coker, Jr. highlighted the strategic importance of the Port of Baltimore. “Having McLaren select Maryland for this first-of-its-kind vehicle processing center is a testament to the Port of Baltimore’s strategic location and reputation as a major hub for automotive operations,” Coker said.

Nicolas Brown, President of McLaren, The Americas, emphasized the company’s commitment to expanding its infrastructure in what he called its largest global market. “As a manufacturer of high tech, innovative vehicles we are proud to be creating well-paid and highly trained technical jobs,” Brown said, adding that the center will ensure “the highest quality service for their new McLaren supercar.” He also noted the benefit of revitalizing a brownfield site.

Tradepoint Atlantic Managing Director Kerry Doyle expressed enthusiasm for McLaren joining its roster of businesses. “They will be strategically positioned along the Eastern Seaboard to serve their growing U.S. market,” Doyle stated.

The Moore-Miller Administration has focused on fostering international partnerships to boost Maryland’s economy. Since the start of the administration, 65 international companies have established a presence in the state, committing to over $350 million in investment and more than 800 new jobs over the next five years.
