BALTIMORE, MD – Maryland State Police have arrested a Reisterstown man for attempted murder and other charges stemming from an alleged road rage shooting on I-695 in June.
Jamar Brooks, 33, was taken into custody on Tuesday and faces charges including attempted first-degree murder, first-degree assault, and illegal possession of a firearm due to a prior conviction. Brooks is being held without bail at the Baltimore County Detention Center.
The arrest follows an investigation into a June 16 incident on the inner loop of I-695 near Washington Boulevard. Troopers from the Maryland State Police Golden Ring Barrack responded to a report that the driver of a Tesla, later identified as Brooks, had fired a shot at another vehicle during a road rage encounter.
Investigators found that the victim’s vehicle had been struck by gunfire, with a round penetrating the driver’s door and seatbelt before lodging in the driver’s seat. The victim was not injured in the incident.
The Maryland State Police Highway Gun Crimes Initiative took over the investigation and identified Brooks as the suspect.
On July 22, members of the Maryland State Police Apprehension Team and the United States Marshal’s Capital Regional Area Fugitive Task Force arrested Brooks at his Reisterstown home. A search warrant executed at the residence resulted in the seizure of a stolen, loaded 9mm semi-automatic handgun.
