Maryland seeks public input on Chesapeake Bay restoration work

ANNAPOLIS, MD—Maryland is inviting the public to provide feedback on proposed revisions to the Chesapeake Bay Watershed Agreement, a key voluntary plan guiding restoration efforts for the nation’s largest estuary. An open house is scheduled for Aug. 5 in Annapolis, with a public comment period running through Sept. 1.

The Chesapeake Bay Watershed Agreement is a collaborative plan signed by Maryland, New York, Delaware, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Washington, D.C., the Chesapeake Bay Commission, and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. It outlines priorities for restoring the Chesapeake Bay to benefit communities throughout the region.

State agency experts will be on hand at the open house to explain the draft revisions and answer questions. Attendees will also have the opportunity to submit their thoughts on the proposed changes.

The open house details are as follows:

  • When: 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 5
  • Where: Tawes State Office Building (first floor), 580 Taylor Ave., Annapolis, MD 21401
  • Parking: Available in Lot K, directly across from the Tawes building entrance (across from Herbert M. Sachs Drive).

The public feedback period for the revisions will conclude on Sept. 1.
