BOWLEYS QUARTERS, MD—Crews rescued a furry friend in distress early Wednesday morning.
At just after 4:00 a.m. on July 23, personnel from Bowleys Quarters Volunteer Fire Rescue & Marine were dispatched to Bowleys Marina for a unique kind of rescue—a pup overboard.
While out for their morning walk routine, a dog leapt from a boat for what he thought was a fun jump to the dock. The dog missed the mark and instead landed in the water.
The dog’s owner attempted to bring him back aboard, but the tired pup couldn’t make it.
Marine Emergency Team 21 responded and quickly deployed a rescue technician. Working together, the technician and the owner were able to safely assist the dog back into the vessel.
Aside from some exhaustion from the long swim, both the pup and his owner were unharmed.
