Original story below…
FALLSTON, MD— The Maryland State Highway Administration this weekend temporarily closed a short section of the left lane along northbound US 1 (Bel Air Bypass) north of the US 1 Bypass / MD 147 (Harford Road) / US 1 Business intersection between Fallston and Bel Air in Harford County.
Following recent heavy rainstorms, State Highway Administration engineers have determined that a segment of 48-inch steel pipe underneath US 1 Bypass located 500 feet north of the intersection requires emergency repairs.
As a precaution, State Highway Administration maintenance crews have temporarily set up a 24-hour left lane closure on US 1 Bypass immediately north of the US 1 Bypass / MD 147 / US 1 Business intersection.
Maintenance crews have also temporarily closed the far-left turn lane from northbound MD 147 to US 1 Bypass. These lane closures will be in effect 24 hours a day until repairs are complete.
The State Highway Administration and its contractor will use variable message signs, barrels and barriers to direct traffic through the highway work zone.
Motorists should slow down and use caution in the area.
