Two injured after shots fired during Bowleys Quarters altercation

UPDATE 3: Police have confirmed that shots were fired during Wednesday evening’s altercation in Bowleys Quarters. Two people were injured and seven juveniles have been detained.

UPDATE 2: It has been confirmed that one juvenile was in possession of a firearm, according to Councilman David Marks. During the altercation, the firearm discharged. The bullet reportedly struck a wall. The suspect has been identified and police are working to locate him.

UPDATE: Police have not specified whether the injuries sustained were the result of actual shots fired. Eyewitnesses tell NottinghamMD.com that the juveniles may have thrown fireworks at people which were mistaken for gunshots. Authorities will release additional details once the investigation is complete.

BOWLEYS QUARTERS, MD—Two people were injured after police responded to a report of shots fired during an altercation in Bowleys Quarters on Wednesday evening.

At approximately 5:30 p.m. on July 16, officers responded to the Walmart located in the 100-block of Carroll Island Road for a report of shots fired. Upon arrival, officers learned that a group of juveniles had been involved in an altercation near the entrance of a store.

Detectives from the Baltimore County Police Department are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident. Authorities say this was an isolated incident and the public is not in any danger.

Two people sustained minor injuries, according to police.

Additional information will be provided once authorities have concluded their investigation.
