Flood Watch issued for Wednesday evening in central, western Maryland

BALTIMORE, MD—The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for central and western Maryland.

The watch will be in effect from 5 p.m. until midnight on Wednesday, July 16th.

Forecasters say showers and thunderstorms will track across the area late Wednesday afternoon and into the evening hours.

Storms will be capable of producing very heavy rainfall, with 1 to 3 inches possible in an hour where stationary cells or multiple rounds occur.

Widespread rainfall totals of nearly an inch are expected, with localized maxes of 2-4 inches.

Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.

Residents should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
