Baltimore County Police Department to hold public input meeting on Drones as First Responder program

DUNDALK, MD—The Baltimore County Police Department is seeking public input on a proposed “Drones as First Responder” (DFR) program, designed to enhance emergency response and public safety.

The department announced Monday that it will hold a community meeting on Wednesday, August 6, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Sollers Point Multi-Purpose Center, located at 323 Sollers Point Road in Dundalk.

The DFR initiative aims to use unmanned aerial systems, or drones, to complement the department’s existing Aviation Team. Officials say the program will improve emergency response capabilities through strategic deployment of the drones.

The meeting will include live demonstrations of the technology, and police representatives will be available to answer questions, explain operational procedures and gather community feedback. The department plans to provide an overview of how the DFR program would function, its usage guidelines, and safeguards in place to protect privacy.
