BALTIMORE, MD—Maryland’s sports wagering market completed Fiscal Year 2025 by delivering $9,226,682 in contributions to the state during June 2025.
FY2025 marked the second full fiscal year that both mobile and retail sports wagering were available in Maryland, and the market demonstrated 47.4% growth year-over year, as sports wagering contributed $88,923,572 to the state in FY2025 (July 2024 through June 2025), compared to $60,311,456 in FY2024. The state’s share of sports wagering proceeds is directed to the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future Fund, which supports public education programs.
Sports bettors in Maryland wagered $403,841,872 during June 2025 and won back $346,732,134 in prizes. Sportsbook operators held 14.1% of the handle.
In accordance with the Budget Reconciliation and Finance Act (House Bill 352) that passed during the General Assembly’s 2025 Legislative Session, mobile sports wagering operators’ contribution to the state increased from 15% to 20% of taxable proceeds beginning June 1, 2025. For June 2025, the entire 20% contribution from mobile operators was directed to the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future Fund. Beginning in July 2025, mobile licensees will pay 15% of taxable proceeds to the Blueprint, and 5% to the General Fund. Retail sports wagering facilities continue to contribute 15% of their taxable proceeds to the Blueprint.
The retail sportsbook at The Greene Turtle in Canton was closed from June 4 through June 12 while the facility changed operators from betParx to Crab Services. The Greene Turtle and Crab Services conducted controlled demonstrations of their systems, which included live wagering during eight-hour periods on June 9 and June 11, and the facility fully reopened on June 13.
