BALTIMORE, MD—The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for central Maryland and the Eastern Shore on Wednesday as more severe storms are expected throughout the region.

The watch will be in effect from 2 p.m. until midnight on July 9, 2025.

Forecasters say numerous showers and thunderstorms will move across the area on Wednesday afternoon and evening.

Rainfall rates of up to 2 inches per hour are possible, which may lead to scattered instances of flash flooding where the heavy rain persists the longest.

Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas.

Residents should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings and/or Severe Thunderstorm Warnings be issued.
