NOTTINGHAM, MD—A Baltimore County woman who recently moved from New York is $57,777 richer after hitting the top prize on a Maryland Lottery Lucky 7s Tripler scratch-off ticket.
The winner, who chose to remain anonymous, claimed her prize on July 1 at Maryland Lottery headquarters. She told lottery officials she’s a relatively new player and has a routine of buying $20 worth of tickets every other week.
“This was completely unexpected,” she said. “I scanned the ticket at the store and saw the amount I won. I couldn’t believe my eyes!”
She purchased the winning ticket at the Giant grocery store at 8905 Belair Road in Nottingham. She had stopped in for groceries and decided to buy a scratch-off. After revealing the prize, she quietly left the store and scanned the ticket multiple times in her car to confirm her win before scheduling an appointment to claim her prize.
The winner has only shared the good news with her husband and plans to use the money to pay bills. When asked if she would continue playing the lottery, she responded with a smile, “Yes, I’ll definitely play again! I think I’ll stick with my routine $20 every two weeks. That seems responsible after winning a top prize.”
