Dundalk shooting leaves one dead, suspect dies of self-inflicted wound

UPDATE: Detectives with the Baltimore County Police Homicide Unit have identified 35-year-old James Skarda IV as the victim in this case. The adult male who was located with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound has been identified as 37-year-old Ricky Stem.

DUNDALK, MD—Police in Baltimore County are investigating a homicide after one man was found fatally shot and another man, believed to be the suspect, died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound Monday.

Officers responded to the 8200-block of Bullneck Road at around 4:20 p.m. on July 7 for reports of a shooting, according the Baltimore County Police Department.

They found an adult male with apparent gunshot wounds to his upper body who was pronounced dead at the scene.

A second adult male, believed by police to be the suspect, was located near Dundalk Avenue and Liberty Parkway with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The identities of the deceased have not yet been released. Homicide detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
