BALTIMORE, MD—The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for central Maryland.
The watch will be in effect from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Monday, July 7, 2025.
Forecasters say the remnants of Tropical Storm Chantal will bring showers and some thunderstorms to locations along the Chesapeake Bay from late morning through the afternoon.
There may be embedded, slow-moving areas of heavy rain which will be capable of producing rain rates of 2-3 inches in an hour or two. A localized total up to 5 inches is possible. These rain amounts may lead to flash flooding.
Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas.
Residents should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
