Edgewood double-shooting leaves two wounded, one critical

EDGEWOOD, MD—Harford County Sheriff’s detectives are investigating a double-shooting in Edgewood that left two people wounded, one critically, late Sunday night.

Deputies were dispatched to the 1600-block of Candlewood Court at just after 10:45 p.m. on Sunday, July 6, after receiving a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, they found a 24-year-old female and a 23-year-old male both suffering from gunshot wounds.

Deputies immediately rendered aid before emergency medical services transported both victims to area hospitals. The female was listed in stable condition, while the male was in critical condition.

The Harford County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) Criminal Investigations Division has taken over the investigation, with assistance from the Forensic Services Unit. Preliminary findings indicate that the male victim was involved in a physical altercation with another male when an unknown individual produced a firearm and shot both victims.

Investigators believe all parties involved were known to each other, and the shooting was not a random act. The motive remains under investigation.

The HCSO also addressed inaccurate social media posts claiming the incident was an active shooter event, reminding the public that official information regarding public safety threats will be released directly by the Harford County Sheriff’s Office.

Anyone with information about the crime is asked to contact Detective Thumma with the HCSO Criminal Investigations Division at 443-409-3154. Anonymous tips can be submitted through the Metro Crime Stoppers Tip Line at 1-866-7LOCKUP.
