Baltimore County announces return of Screen on the Green, new Days of Play program

TOWSON, MD—Baltimore County’s Department of Recreation and Parks is bringing back its popular “Screen on the Green” outdoor summer movie series and launching a new “Days of Play” program, offering free activities to residents throughout the summer.

Both initiatives aim to encourage outdoor recreation for all ages in various county parks.

Screen on the Green, the free summer movie series, will feature pre-movie activities starting at 6 p.m., including yard games, dancing, and arts and crafts. Movies begin at 7 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets, chairs, and snacks.

The schedule for “Screen on the Green” includes:

  • July 11: “Wicked” at Hannah More Park in Reisterstown
  • July 18: “Charlotte’s Web” at Center for Maryland Agriculture and Farm Park in Cockeysville
  • July 25: “Jungle Book” (live-action) at Oregon Ridge Park in Cockeysville
  • July 26: “Sonic 3” at Dundalk Heritage Park in Dundalk
  • Aug. 10: “The Wild Robot” at Holt Park and Center for the Arts in Overlea Fullerton
  • Aug. 15: “Minecraft” at Mars Estates Recreation Activity Center in Essex
  • Aug. 29: “Soul” at Benjamin Banneker Historical Park and Museum in Catonsville
  • Sept. 6: “Coco” at Holt Park and Center for the Arts in Overlea Fullerton
  • Sept. 13: “Inside Out 2” at the Essex Day Festival in Essex (Eastern Blvd.)
  • Sept. 19: “Mufasa” at Red House Run Elementary in Rosedale
  • Sept. 20: “50 First Dates” at Fullerton Community Center in Overlea Fullerton

The new Days of Play program offers free, supervised outdoor play for children ages 8 to 14 through July. Each session runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., and a parent or guardian must sign a waiver on-site. Program locations were suggested by followers of the department’s Facebook page, with additional locations and dates possible.

The initial “Days of Play” schedule includes:

  • July 11: Watersedge Community Center in Dundalk
  • July 14: Back River Community Center in Essex
  • July 21: Sweet Air Park and Jacksonville Recreation Center in Phoenix
