WALLOPS ISLAND, VA—A sounding rocket carrying dozens of student and faculty experiments is scheduled to launch from NASA’s Wallops Flight Facility in Virginia, marking the annual “RockOn” student flight mission.

The Terrier-Improved Orion sounding rocket is set for a launch window between 5:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. EDT, from Thursday, June 26, through Sunday, June 29, 2025.

For those in the local area, the Wallops Visitor Center’s launch viewing area will open at 5 a.m. for a special viewing event. The site offers bleachers with clear views of the launch pad and audio from range control. The launch may also be visible across the broader Chesapeake region.
