TOWSON, MD—The Baltimore County Police Department on Tuesday unveiled a new Information Nexus For Operations (INFO) Center, a state-of-the-art hub designed to provide officers with real-time intelligence as they respond to calls.
The department said the INFO Center will enhance officer safety and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of responses by offering immediate access to critical information.
“By equipping officers with timely and actionable information, the Department is enhancing both officer safety and the quality of service being provided,” Police Chief Robert O. McCullough said in a statement. “When a situation is evolving quickly, the INFO Center serves as a platform that puts the right information into the hands of the right people at the right time.”
Previously, officers often had to manage both their physical environment and digital information simultaneously while en route to incidents. The INFO Center aims to streamline this process by having a dedicated team of law enforcement experts monitor cameras, identify potential suspects, and relay real-time intelligence directly to officers in the field. This increased situational awareness is expected to allow officers to operate more efficiently.
Chief McCullough indicated a continued commitment to technological innovation in policing. He is expected to announce additional technology-driven programs in the coming weeks aimed at improving responses to calls for service across parts of Baltimore County.
