BALTIMORE, MD—Baltimore City will host two distinct Fourth of July celebrations this year, featuring the traditional fireworks at the Inner Harbor and an inaugural partnership with the Annual Cherry Hill Arts & Music Waterfront Festival, which will include a drone show, Mayor Brandon M. Scott announced this week.
“This year, we’re partnering with one of my favorite festivals, the Cherry Hill Waterfront Festival, bringing together these two great events for one big celebration,” Mayor Scott said. “Between fireworks at the Inner Harbor and a drone show at the festival, this promises to be our most exciting July 4 yet.”
The Inner Harbor celebration is scheduled from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., with an event stage at the Inner Harbor Amphitheater featuring local talent. Mayor Scott will continue his annual tradition of kayaking into the Inner Harbor to greet attendees. The best views of the fireworks display will be from the Inner Harbor, Federal Hill, and Harbor East.
In a new collaboration, the 9th Annual Cherry Hill Arts & Music Waterfront Festival will be held at Middle Branch Park from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. On July 4, the festival will feature a custom drone show at 9:30 p.m. This “environmentally friendly alternative to fireworks” will launch from West Covington Park, with prime viewing from the festival grounds in Middle Branch.
Navasha Daya, co-founder of the Youth Resiliency Institute and co-director of the festival, expressed gratitude for the city’s support. “This year’s inaugural Independence Day custom drone show at the Cherry Hill Arts & Music Waterfront Festival is the outcome of a partnership with the Office of Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott, whose dedication to arts and culture throughout Baltimore City continues to impact communities in profound ways,” Daya said.
The Cherry Hill festival, a free, family-friendly event, is supported by the South Baltimore Gateway Partnership and will offer live music, food trucks, exhibits, vendors and cultural experiences, rain or shine.
