ROSEDALE, MD—A recent college graduate from Rosedale is celebrating a $50,000 lottery win, calling it a perfect graduation present. The lucky woman claimed the top prize on a Mosaic Money scratch-off ticket, the Maryland Lottery announced Monday.
The fortuitous win occurred while she was celebrating with friends at Dick’s Famous Halfway Inn in Rosedale. She purchased the ticket and handed it to a friend who was new to scratch-offs.
According to the winner, her friend scratched the ticket to reveal five matching numbers in the “Your Numbers” section, each with a $5,000 prize, totaling $25,000. The ticket also featured a “2X” symbol with a $5,000 prize, doubling it to $10,000, and a “3X” symbol with another $5,000 amount, tripling it to $15,000. These multipliers added an extra $25,000, bringing the total winnings to $50,000.
“My friend didn’t think it was real,” the Baltimore County resident said.
The group used a scanner to confirm the win, validating it as one of the Mosaic Money scratch-off’s top prizes. The college graduate plans to use her winnings to pay off student loans as she embarks on her career.
“I almost cried when I saw the amount,” she recalled.
Dick’s Famous Halfway Inn is located at 8013 Philadelphia Road in Rosedale.
