Oliver Beach Improvement Association holds ribbon-cutting, grand reopening of community hall

MIDDLE RIVER, MD—The Oliver Beach Improvement Association held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the grand reopening of its community hall on Saturday morning, May 31, 2025.

The hall sustained heavy damage in a fire back in March 2024.  Since then, the community has rallied to support repairs to the hall, including a bull roast fundraiser last summer.

“On Saturday morning, I joined Oliver Beach residents and other elected officials at the ribbon-cutting for the restored building, damaged by a fire last spring,” said Councilman David Marks. “OBIA President Carol Sue Hart has been a force of nature working with volunteers to rebuild. Baltimore County provided nearly $100,000 in grants.”

“Thank you to Senator J.B. Jennings, Delegates Ryan Nawrocki and Kathy Szeliga, Essex Middle River Civic Council President Josh Sines, Sharon Kihn from the Chesapeake Gateway Chamber of Commerce, and Carmen Christiana representing County Executive Klausmeier for their remarks and support,” Councilman Marks added.
