ESSEX, MD—Detectives with the Baltimore County Police Department are investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred on Thursday evening.
At around 9:30 p.m. on May 15, 2025, officers responded to a call for a missing “suicidal subject.”
When authorities located the subject in the 1000-block of Pine Road (21221), he was armed with a knife. Officers ordered the individual to drop the weapon, but the subject refused to comply.
While attempting to gain compliance, one officer fired his weapon, striking the armed subject. The subject was later transported to an area hospital for treatment.
An investigation into this incident is ongoing at this hour. Per Baltimore County Police Department policy, the officer who discharged his firearm has been placed on administrative leave.
