BALTIMORE, MD—The MDOT State Highway Administration will begin a $378,000 pavement patching on approximately one-mile in both directions of I-83 (Jones Falls Expressway) from the Baltimore City line to Old Pimlico Road in Baltimore County as early as Sunday, May 11. The project is expected to be completed in early June, weather permitting.
Motorists can expect temporary overnight single- and double-lane closures on the Jones Falls Expressway between the bridge over the Baltimore Light Rail tracks near the Baltimore City/County line and the I-83 bridge over Old Pimlico Road. Lane closures may be in effect at any time Sundays through Thursdays between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. while contractor crews patch sections of asphalt pavement.
The I-83 pavement patching work is part of a State Highway Administration contract to improve pavement on Interstate highways within Baltimore County. The State Highway Administration’s contractor, Gray and Son, Inc. of Timonium, will also use temporary traffic signs and cones to guide motorists through the work zone.
Motorcyclists are urged to be aware of uneven pavement surfaces during the pavement resurfacing work. Drivers are encouraged to stay alert, focus on driving, and look for reduced speed limits as well as other traffic pattern changes.
