Baltimore County Council passes legislation to advance revitalization of Middle River Depot

MIDDLE RIVER, MD—The Baltimore County Council advanced an important piece of legislation this week.

On Monday, July 3, the County Council passed legislation that will advance the revitalization of the Middle River Depot.

The depot, now known as Aviation Station, played a critical role in manufacturing thousands of aircraft during World War II.  Reich Brothers is currently renovating the historic hangar into warehouse space.

Under the bill that passed, the fire safety systems will be implemented in a way that preserves the building’s historic structure.

“I am very happy to report that this common sense legislation passed that will advance the revitalization of the historic depot,” said Councilman David Marks. “Many thanks to Council Chair Julian Jones for cosponsoring the bill with me, and to County Executive Olszewski and Fire Chief Joanne Rund for working with us. Finally, thank you to Reich Brothers for their ongoing work to repurpose this part of Middle River.”
