Red Flag Warning issued for fire risk in Baltimore on Wednesday

BALTIMORE, MD—The National Weather Service in Baltimore has issued a Red Flag Warning for low humidity and gusty winds.

The warning is in effect until 8 p.m. on Wednesday evening. The Fire Weather Watch is no longer in effect.

Forecasters say west to northwest winds of 10 to 20 mph with gusts of up to 30 mph are possible.  Relative humidity will only be 20 to 30 percent.

Critical fire weather conditions are expected through Wednesday evening. All outdoor burning is discouraged, as fires could rapidly spread and become uncontrollable.

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior.
