ESSEX, MD—Police are investigating a fatal pedestrian crash that occurred on Wednesday, March 1, in Essex.

At just before 8:15 p.m., a 2020 Honda CR-V was traveling southbound on Route 702 approaching Old Eastern Avenue when a pedestrian entered the roadway.

The pedestrian, identified as 32-year-old Flore Mekoumou, was taken to an area hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

Following the crash, the driver of the Honda remained at the scene.

This case remains under investigation by the Baltimore County Police Department Crash Team.
