HILLENDALE, MD—One person was injured and several pets were killed in a two-alarm apartment fire in Hillendale on Tuesday night.

The fire was reported at around 9:45 p.m. on Tuesday, February 28, 2023 in the 1000-block of Halstead Road (21234).

A second alarm was sounded and multiple residents were rescued from balconies, according to the Baltimore County Fire Department.

One person transported to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The Providence Volunteer Fire Company reports that several animals died in the blaze.

The fire was placed under control by around 10:30 p.m.  The cause remains under investigation.
