Wind Advisory issued for Baltimore area, frigid wind chills expected

BALTIMORE, MD—The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory for the Baltimore area.

The advisory covers the entire Baltimore metro area and will be in effect from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Friday, December 23rd.

Westerly winds of 20 to 30 mph are expected, with gusts of up to 50 mph.

Forecasters say gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.

Bitterly cold wind chills will be ongoing during the time of this high wind event. It is essential to make preparations now for extreme cold conditions with the potential for loss of power.

Motorists should use extra caution when driving, especially if operating a high profile vehicle. Residents should secure outdoor objects.
