ESSEX, MD—A local chamber of commerce recognized some very important individuals last night.

On Wednesday evening, the Chesapeake Gateway Chamber of Commerce held its 15th annual Salute to Hometown Heroes.

Members of the organization gathered at Sparrows Point Country Club to honor fire, police, military, hospital, and other local heroes who have shown courage in the face of a disaster or emergency.

Each of the honorees received a complimentary dinner, plaque, citations from local elected officials, and a gift bag.
