JOPPA, MD—Some local first responders pulled off a unique rescue in Joppa on Sunday morning.
At around 7:30 a.m., crews from the Joppa-Magnolia Volulnteer Fire Company and the Aberdeen Fire Department used a crane to rescue a horse in the 2400-block of Old Jerusalem Road.
It took about 2 hours to bring the 20-year-old, 1,300-pound Irish sport horse named Monte back to his feet.
Officials say the horse suffered a medical issue. After the vet treated him, he was reportedly exhausted and needed assistance in order to get back onto to his feet.
The horse is expected to make a full recovery.
