BCPS Controller’s Office wins award for financial reporting

TOWSON, MD – For the 23rd consecutive year, the Controller’s Office of Baltimore County Public Schools has received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA).

This certificate recognizes the office for its comprehensive annual financial report. According to the GFOA, the Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.

“To best serve our students and our community, it is essential that Baltimore County Public Schools manages its budget with the utmost integrity,” said BCPS Chief Administrative and Operations Officer Kevin D. Smith. “This latest honor for our Controller’s Office confirms once again that our school system excels in this arena. We congratulate Controller Patrick Fannon and his team for their outstanding work and the honor it brings to BCPS.”

GFOA is a professional organization of public officials united to enhance and promote the professional management of governmental financial resources by identifying, developing and advancing fiscal strategies, policies, and practices for the public benefit.
