GLEN ARM, MD – On Monday evening, the Baltimore County Council added the Glen Arm Railroad Station to its inventory of protected historical landmarks.
Built in 1909, the structure is the last surviving station along the former Maryland and Pennsylvania Railroad line to retain much of its historic character.
Shown in the above, undated photograph from the early 1900s, the station had ceased operations by the 1950s.
The Ma & Pa line once crossed from Towson through the Cromwell Valley up to Harford County. The Towson abutments, also protected, are located west of the library.
“Many volunteers testified in favor of this nomination,” said Councilman David Marks. “I would like to thank them and the Department of Planning for their hard work and support.”
