Woman robbed in White Marsh Mall parking lot, Perry Hall shed burglarized

Police LightsPolice are investigating a burglary and a robbery that took place last week.

Sometime between 10 a.m. on Sunday, August 12, and 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday, August 15, an individual broke into a shed in the 4600-block of Silver Spring Road (21128) and stole two pieces of lawn equipment.

At around 6:45 p.m. on Friday, August 17, two individuals, one armed with a knife, robbed a woman of her necklace in the parking lot at White Marsh Mall. The suspects then fled the scene.


Macy’s Backstage to open at White Marsh Mall on June 2

Local mall favorite Miss Kitty will cut the ribbon as the official first shopper of the day.

After 37 years of service, June 2nd will be Miss Kitty’s last day working in the mall.

Miss Kitty is beloved for making generations of Baltimore area kids smile as the White Marsh Mall Clown.

The first 200 customers to arrive will receive a Scratch, Win, Smile scratch-off card (one per customer).

A live DJ will be on-hand throughout the event.  Attendees can also snap a photo at the selfie-station and post the photo using #macysbackstage to win a prize (one per customer).

Macy’s Backstage is located on the second floor of White Marsh Mall.


Police searching for 11-year-old boy missing from Perry Hall

Police in Baltimore County are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a missing, 11-year-old Perry Hall boy.

Detavin Francis, of the 9500 block of Perry Hall Boulevard (21236), is described as a black male, approximately 4’5”, weighing 80 lbs.

He was last seen at 8 p.m. along Haylock Court wearing blue jacket, yellow shirt, and carrying backpack.

Anyone with information on Detavin Francis’ whereabouts is asked to call police at 410-887-5000.

Thai Rainbow; Greenleigh at Crossroads

Thai Rainbow, a restaurant specializing in Thai-style food offerings, has leased 2,500 square feet of space at Greenleigh at Crossroads near White Marsh and is expected to open this summer. The next development phase of Baltimore Crossroads, Greenleigh at Crossroads is a 1,000-acre mixed-use business community containing residential, commercial office, retail and hospitality product types.

Miss Kitty, White Marsh Mall balloon lady, to retire after 37 years

A White Marsh icon will soon be retiring.

“Miss Kitty,” the clown lady who sells balloons at White Marsh Mall, is about to “call it a day.”

Miss Kitty has sold balloons at the mall ever since it first opened in 1981.

For the past 37 yrs, she arrives at the mall early to paint her face, put on a handmade outfit, and inflate hundreds of balloons, working 10- to 12-hour days to bring smiles to mall patrons big and small.

Miss Kitty’s last day at White Marsh Mall will be Saturday, June 2, 2018.

She will be there from 11:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. on her final day.
