One lane is currently blocked.

There has been no word on any injuries.

Bill to bring 150 jobs to Middle River passes County Council

manufacturing jobs to come to Middle River passed the Baltimore County Council with a unanimous vote at Monday’s Council Meeting.

Bill 21-18 Zoning Regulations – Cold Rolling Mills, adds the definition of Cold Rolling Mills to the Baltimore County Zoning Regulations.

Cold Rolling Mills produce thin sheets of metal often used to make beverage cans and other similar products by compressing aluminum stock between rollers.

By adding the definition of Cold Rolling Mills to the County Zoning Regulations, Empire Resources, Inc. – a distributor of value added, semi-finished metal products – will bring 150 manufacturing jobs to the former Worthington Steel site on Kelso Drive and Martin Boulevard.

“Introducing this bill to allow 150 jobs come to Middle River was a no brainer,” said Councilwoman Bevins. “After discussions with the community this legislation received the support of the Essex Middle River Civic Council and the Aero Acres Community Association. The
decision to bring quality manufacturing jobs to Middle River shows the meaningful investment private industry is making in the Sixth District and that our efforts at the county level, to grow the economy and create jobs are working.”

Crash reported in Middle River

At about 10:30 a.m., units responded to the intersection of Martin Boulevard at Middle River Road (21220).

At the scene, emergency crews found a crash involving a vehicle that had overturned after striking a tree.

There has been no word on any injuries.

Motorists should use caution in the area.

WMVFC responds to Dick’s, I-95; car crashes into Middle River liquor store

White Marsh Volunteer Fire Company WMVFCThree Saturday afternoon incidents have drawn an emergency response in the White Marsh and Middle River areas.

At just before 1:30 p.m., emergency crews responded to the area of Compass Road at Martin Boulevard in Middle River (21220).  There, a car had left the roadway and plowed into the front of Beer Pump Wine and Spirits.  No injuries were reported.

At just before 2 p.m., the White Marsh Volunteer Fire Company responded to the Dick’s sporting goods store on Campbell Boulevard in White Marsh for a report of a burning smell.  At the scene, crews found that a belt had burned up in the store’s HVAC unit.  No injuries were reported.

At just after 2 p.m., the crews from WMVFC responded to an accident along northbound Interstate 95. An exact location was not given, nor was there any update on injuries.

Police investigating 5 Halloween robberies

robberyPolice in Baltimore County are investigating five robberies that were reported on Halloween.

At 1 a.m. on October 31, a man ripped the purse from a woman’s shoulder in the area of Franklin Square Drive and Castlestone Drive in Rosedale (21237), then assaulted the victim and fled the scene.

Sometime between noon and 4 p.m., an individual assaulted a woman in the 100 block of Orville Road in Essex (21221), then stole cash from her purse.

At 3 p.m., a man assaulted another man at the McDonald’s located in the 1400 block of Martin Boulevard in Middle River (21220) and stole his cell phone. The suspect was located and arrested.

At 7:30 p.m., a group of juveniles assaulted three victims in the area of Arncliffe Road and Corby Road in Essex (21221) and stole a rubber clown mask and a cell phone.

Also at 7:30 p.m., a man entered the 7-Eleven located in the 6400 block of Golden Ring Road in Rosedale (21237) and produced a handgun. The suspect instructed the clerk to empty both registers and then fled the scene.
