Work to result in temporary closures of I-695 ramps in northeast Baltimore

I-95The Maryland Transportation Authority is advising motorists of some important ramp closures in the Nottingham area.

The ramps from I-695 East (Inner Loop) to I-95 (Exit 33) will be closed overnight on Monday night, June 26, and on Tuesday night, June 27. The detour will direct motorists to eastbound US 40 (Exit 35B), to I-695 West (Outer Loop), to I-95 (Exit 33).

The ramp from northbound US 1 (Bel Air Road) to I-695 East (Inner Loop) will be also be closed on Tuesday night, June 27, and on Wednesday night, June 28. The detour will direct motorists to I-695 West (Outer Loop), to southbound US 1 (Exit 32A/Bel Air Road), to I-695 East (Inner Loop).

Weather permitting, the ramps from I-695 East (Inner Loop) to I-95 will be closed Monday, June 26, and Tuesday, June 27, from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning.

Weather permitting, the ramp from northbound US 1 to I-695 East (Inner Loop) will be closed Tuesday, June 27, and Wednesday, June 28, from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning.

Road crews will be paving and milling as part of the Maryland Transportation Authority’s (MDTA) I-95 Improvement Project with Express Toll Lanes (ETL). The project at the I-95/I-695 interchange will reconstruct and realign I-695 from US 1 to MD 7 (Philadelphia Road).

Motorcyclist killed in Sunday morning I-95 crash

fatal-crashAuthorities say a motorcycle operator was killed in a crash along Interstate 95 on Sunday morning.

At about 7:30 a.m. on Sunday morning, emergency personnel responded to an accident on the ramp from I-95 north to the Inner Loop of I-695 in Baltimore County.

Maryland State Police arrived on the scene and found paramedics placing the downed rider in the rear of an ambulance. Troopers also found a badly damaged motorcycle, a 2007 Honda Sport Bike resting in the roadway. The rider, later identified as Benjamin Lovell Brabham, 30, of Baltimore County, was taken to Bayview Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Authorities say Brabham was traveling north on the I-95 ramp to the Inner Loop of I-695 when he lost control of the motorcycle and was ejected. Brabham hit the pavement and suffered blunt force trauma as a result. He had been wearing an approved DOT helmet at the time of the crash.

There were no witnesses to the collision, so at this point there has been no determination of cause other then failing to control vehicle.

Truck and trailer overturn on I-95

Crews are responding to an accident involving an overturned vehicle on Interstate 95.

At just before 9:30 a.m., the White Marsh Volunteer Fire Company said that a truck and trailer had overturned along southbound I-95 near Joppa Road

Both the truck and trailer had gone off the road. 

High winds may have been involved. 

There has been no word on any injuries. 

Motorists should use caution in the area. 

Serious crash in Joppa causes 4-mile backup along I-95

I-95 Crash 20170617A Saturday morning crash in Joppa has snarled traffic along Interstate 95.

At just before noon, a crash was reported along northbound I-95.

All northbound lanes were temporarily closed, but one lane has since reopened.  Injuries were reported in the crash.

The Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company has units on the scene.

The Maryland Transportation Authority says there is now a 4-mile backup along northbound I-95.

Motorists should use an alternate route.
