House fire reported in Perry Hall

House FireCrews were on the scene of a dwelling fire in Perry Hall on Saturday afternoon.

The fire was reported at about 3:15 p.m. in the 4300-block of Chapel Road.


Units arrived to find smoke showing from the roof of a two-story single-family dwelling.

The blaze was quickly extinguished.  No injuries were reported.

Perry Hall Apple Festival 2018 dates announced

The 2018 Perry Hall Apple Festival will take place on Saturday, September 15, and Sunday, September 16, 2018.

The event will be held at Chapel Hills Farm & Nursery, located at 4350 Chapel Road in Perry Hall.


Activities will include an Amish apple butter demonstration, live bluegrass music by Arrow Horse, face painting, tractor-drawn hayrides, and much more.

There will also be a petting zoo, train rides, mini hay maze, and pedal tractors.

There will be plenty of food, including pulled pork, pizza, kettle corn, pit beef & put turkey, burgers, hot dogs, fries, apple cider, funnel cakes, and much more.

The festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on both days.

The event is hosted by the Perry Hall Improvement Association.

Northbound Belair Road shut down in Perry Hall due to motorcycle crash

Crews are on the scene of a Friday night motorcycle crash in Perry Hall.

The crash occurred at just after 8:30 p.m. along Belair Road between Chapel Road and Honeygo Boulevard.

The motorcycle operator has been transported to Shock Trauma.

Northbound Belair Road remains shut down at this hour.

Motorists should use an alternate route.

Councilman Marks: Police searching for auto theft suspects in Perry Hall

Police LightsPolice in Perry Hall were searching for a pair auto theft suspects on Monday afternoon.

At around 4:30 p.m., residents reported seeing a heavy police presence, including a police helicopter, along Joppa Road between Chapel Road and Kilbride Road.

Councilman David Marks tweeted that police are searching for one black male and one black female who may be connected to an incident involving a stolen car.

Police have not released any additional details at this time.

Road closures announced for slain officer’s memorial services

BCoPD Fallen OfficerAs previously announced, memorial services will take place on Thursday and Friday for fallen Officer Amy Caprio.

Local traffic will be impacted.

The viewing for the slain police officer will be held on Thursday at Schimunek Funeral Home, located at 9705 Belair Road in Perry Hall.

There will be a private viewing from 1 to 2 p.m., followed by a public viewing from 2 to 5 p.m. and an additional public viewing from 7 to 9 p.m.

Due to the volume of cars expected for the viewing, all lanes of Belair Road will be closed in both directions between Chapel Road and Honeygo Boulevard from noon until 10 p.m.

Sign boards will be up diverting traffic to Joppa Road, Chapel Road, and Honeygo Boulevard with detour instructions.

Officers will be posted at both ends of the road closure to assist motorists. Residents and attendees will be allowed through onto Belair Road.

The funeral service for Officer Caprio will be held on Friday May 25, at 10:00 a.m. at Mountain Christian Church, located at 1824 Mountain Road in Joppa.

Motorists should expect delays along northbound Belair Road from 9 to 10 a.m. as Officer Caprio is transported to Mountain Christian.

The funeral procession is expected to begin at 11:30 a.m.  Motorists should expect significant road closures during the time of the procession. The burial will be held at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens, located at 200 E. Padonia Road, 21093.

The route will be as follows:

  • East on Mountain Road to I-95 South
  • South on I-95 to I-695 West
  • West on I-695 to I-83 North
  • North on I-83 to Exit 17- Padonia Road
  • East onto Padonia Road to the entrance of Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens
