ESSEX, MD—A local chamber of commerce recognized some very important individuals last night.

On Thursday evening, the Chesapeake Gateway Chamber of Commerce held its 14th annual Salute to Hometown Heroes.

Members of the organization gathered at the Eastern Yacht Club to honor fire, police, military, hospital, and other local heroes who have shown courage in the face of a disaster or emergency.

Each of the honorees received a complimentary dinner, plaque, citations from local elected officials, and a gift bag.

Among those on hand to honor this year’s heroes were Sixth District Councilwoman Cathy Bevins and Fifth District Councilman David Marks.
