BALTIMORE, MD—An out-of-state player has claimed a huge Maryland Lottery jackpot.
The progressive jackpot started at $250,000 for the Maryland Lottery FAST PLAY Diamond Mine game and grew more than tenfold before a player in eastern Baltimore bought the winning ticket, which was worth more than $2 million.
Sold on the morning of October 21, the winning ticket went unclaimed until November 2 when a 27-year-old man from upstate New York stopped by Maryland Lottery headquarters in Baltimore. He claimed his $2,620,246 progressive jackpot prize.
The anonymous player declined to discuss his winnings. This was the largest prize won yet in any of the Maryland Lottery’s FAST PLAY games. The Diamond Mine game has since closed but players can still claim prizes within 182 days of their ticket’s purchase. The purchase date appears on the front of the ticket.
FAST PLAY has plenty of other progressive jackpot games players can enjoy, such as the $5 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP POKER® and Payday games, $10 Lucky Numbers game, and $20 Hit the Jackpot! game. Progressive jackpot amounts are updated several times each hour based on sales. Progressive jackpots rise with the sale of each ticket in that particular game until a player buys the winning ticket.
Also having reason to celebrate the $2.6 million Diamond Mine win are the proprietors of Pulaski Liquor Emporium at 6425 Pulaski Highway in Baltimore. They earn a bonus of $1,000 for selling a FAST PLAY ticket worth $100,000 or more.
