ESSEX, MD—Police are investigating after a gun was found at a Baltimore County school on Wednesday.

At around 12:15 p.m., officers responded to Chesapeake High School after being notified that a loaded handgun and ammunition were discovered by a school administrator.

Officers later learned the weapon was located inside of a bag in an empty classroom.

No additional details are available at this time.

Authorities say this remains an open and active investigation.
