WEEKLY ZIP CODE REPORT: Maryland reports record-high 76,590 new COVID-19 vaccinations in single day

NOTTINGHAM, MD—The Maryland Department of Health and Governor Larry Hogan on Friday reported that the state set a new one-day record of 76,590 COVID-19 vaccinations on Thursday.  Maryland providers have now administered a total of 2,836,766 doses.

According to the CDC, 40.7% of Marylanders 18 and older have now received at least one dose.

Overall Metrics

As of Friday, April 2, 2021, there have been 414,385 cases of novel coronavirus in Maryland. The state has now conducted 8,837,610 tests, including more than 37,000 tests over the past 24 hours.

The statewide positivity rate stands at 5.60%, an increase from last Friday’s 4.64%.

A total of 8,134 Marylanders have died with COVID-19 and 1,045 individuals are currently hospitalized – an increase of 112 hospitalizations since last Friday.  A total of 251 ICU beds are currently in use, an increase of 19 beds since last Friday.

More than 70% of Maryland’s COVID-19 fatalities have been among those over 70 years of age (5,825/8,134).

Baltimore County has confirmed 56,503 cases and 1,338 deaths with COVID-19 (note: “probable” deaths are not included in these totals).
