WEEKLY ZIP CODE REPORT: Maryland sets another one-day COVID-19 vaccination record

NOTTINGHAM, MD—The Maryland Department of Health on Friday reported that the state set a new one-day record of 64,286 COVID-19 vaccines on Thursday.  Maryland providers have now administered a total of 2,422,963 doses.

According to the CDC, 34.7% of Marylanders 18 and older have now received at least one dose.

Overall Metrics

As of Friday, March 26, 2021, there have been 405,343 cases of novel coronavirus in Maryland. The state has now conducted 8,633,225 tests, including more than 42,000 tests over the past 24 hours.

The statewide positivity rate stands at 4.64%, an increase from last Friday’s 4.16%.

A total of 8,047 Marylanders have died with COVID-19 and 933 individuals are currently hospitalized – an increase of 117 hospitalizations since last Friday.  A total of 232 ICU beds are currently in use, an increase of 14 beds since last Friday.

More than 72% of Maryland’s COVID-19 fatalities have been among those over 70 years of age (5,779/8,047).

There have now been 3,140,124 negative COVID-19 test results in Maryland and 9,830 patients have been released from isolation.

Baltimore County has confirmed 54,740 cases and 1,324 deaths with COVID-19 (note: “probable” deaths are not included in these totals).

“For the first time, more than 60,000 COVID-19 vaccinations have been reported in a single day in Maryland,” said Governor Larry Hogan on Friday.  “In total, the state is reporting a record 64,286 new vaccinations, and a total of 2,422,963 vaccinations to date.”

“Our plan to maximize points of distribution in every jurisdiction is working, as we are hitting new record highs for vaccinations on an almost daily basis,” Governor Hogan added. “I want to sincerely thank the thousands of dedicated people who have been working around the clock to make this possible.”
