Golden Ring Middle School teacher named Eastern Region Middle Level Art Educator of the Year

ROSEDALE, MD—Camille Gibson, an art teacher at Golden Ring Middle School and department chair and visual art lead teacher for Baltimore County’s East Zone schools, has been named Eastern Region Middle Level Art Educator of the Year by the National Art Education Association.

“Camille leads her classroom from her heart and with a sense of purpose,” said Sherri Fisher, Baltimore County Public Schools coordinator of visual arts. “She empowers her students to use their artistic voices to connect to their community, through a school program she has developed called Art for a Cause. The program allows her students to use their artistic abilities to address issues that are relevant in their community.”

Gibson has worked at Golden Ring Middle School for seven years and has earned a master’s degree in leadership teaching in cultural proficiency and a post master’s certificate in administration and supervision, both from Notre Dame of Maryland University

The award for Gibson will be presented during the virtual 2021 NAEA National Convention, March 4–7, 2021.
