Middle River man claims $30,012 Md. Lottery Racetrax prize

MIDDLE RIVER, MD—A Middle River construction worker who went out with friends to celebrate “Thirsty Thursday” ended up more than $30,000 richer.

The good times started rolling around 10 p.m. when “Party Guy” and his friends got together to go bar hopping. They decided to stop first at Market 21 on Belair Road before moving on to the first of many possible pubs and bars.

“We walked in and had the sudden urge to play Racetrax,” said the Middle River resident. “My friends started playing the same numbers but I played different, random numbers that felt right to me.”

“Party Guy” placed a few bets before luck caught up to him in the form of a $1 Superfecta Box wager. He added the Bonus feature to his bet, too, so any prize won would be multiplied.

While the rest of his friends were laughing about which one of them would hit it big first, our 23-year-old winner had a feeling that his wager on the 1, 4, 7 and 10 horses was a sure bet. As soon as the results came across the screen, “Party Guy” tucked the ticket away and acted as though nothing had happened.

The horses crossed the finish line in 4, 10, 7 and 1 order; the Bonus multiplier for that race was 3X the prize. “I went home early and told my friends about my big win the next day,” he said, laughing. “They said I should give them a cut!”

Although “Party Guy” acknowledged that he has great friends, he also has alternative plans for his prize. First, he will pay off all of his credit cards. He will then put the rest of the money toward classes at a local university.

The winner’s lucky retailer has reason to party, as well. Market 21 at 4300 Belair Road (21206) earns a bonus of $300.12 from the Maryland Lottery for selling a winning Racetrax ticket of $10,000 or more. The bonus is equal to 1 percent of the prize.
