Stabbing reported in Edgewood, roads closed

UPDATE: The victim has been identified as 28-year-old Vander Madison, of Baltimore. He was reportedly stabbed multiple times in the upper body. His injuries are serious, but non-life threatening.

Madison was walking along Edgewood Road at just after 12:30 p.m. when an unknown male approached him from behind, grabbed his bag, and stabbed him multiple times.

The suspect is described as a black male age 20-30 wearing a black jacket and jeans.

Anyone with additional information is asked to contact police at 410-836-5437. If the information provided leads to an arrest, a reward of up to $2,000 may be offered.

EDGEWOOD, MD—Police are on the scene of a Thursday afternoon stabbing in Edgewood.

The incident was reported at just after 1 p.m. in the area of Route 24 at at Edgewood Road.

Reports indicate that one male victim was stabbed at the scene.

There has been no update on his identity or condition.

The Maryland State Highway Administration reports that Route 24 has been shut down in both directions at Edgewood Road and Route 40 has also been shut down.

Motorists should use an alternate route and expect a heavy police presence in the area for the next few hours.
