OVERLEA, MD – A busy Overlea thoroughfare remained closed on Tuesday morning in the wake of a major water main break.

The Department of Public Works says that the water main has now been repaired along Belair Road.

BGE has also repaired the gas line that was damaged as a result of the rupture.

Water service should be restored shortly for the 400+ residents who were affected by the break.

The storm drain that was damaged at the site of the break still needs to be replaced, however, so Belair Road remains shut down in both directions between Northern Parkway and Taylor Avenue.
